What Are You Waiting For?

How many times have you found yourself saying, “I need to change my job?”

What about asking for a raise?

What about moving toward quitting and starting your own business?

Then there is “I need to lose some weight” or “I have to do something about getting out of this toxic relationship”. “I need to start that book”, “I want to learn a new skill”, I want to write a blog”, “ I want to start a financial plan”, “I need to tell my kids I love them”, “I need to tell my partner I am grateful for all they do”, “I need to fix that leaky faucet”, “I want to plan our next vacation”. “I have to call mom”.

On and on it goes.

Well, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

What ever the reason, it is an excuse. Pure and simple.

Just get on and do it.

Make a simple to do list in order of priority of what is the most important thing to do now.

For example:

1. Call mom

2. Tell my kids I love them. Tell my partner I love them. When was the last time you told someone close to you that you love them? Life is fleeting, and sometimes, we forget to express how much we care. What’s stopping you from telling your loved ones how you feel right now?

3. Get some advice on how to start a financial plan. Have you considered starting a savings plan but never got around to it? What actionable steps can you take today to secure your financial future?

4. Get some dates for the next vacations. New adventures nourish the soul. What’s holding you back from making travel plans and exploring the world?

5. Record everything I eat today. Have you been contemplating starting an exercise program or losing a few pounds? Physical health is the foundation for a happy life. What are the small steps you can take today to prioritize your health?

This small exercise is getting things done in a prioritized sequence.

You get the picture.

Maybe the first priority is to start a to do list.

Many of my clients over the years have made tremendous steps to get the true priorities done by simply creating a to do list.

It doesn’t have to be elaborate. In fact the simpler the better.

Here’s a tip. Most of us use a cell phone. Generally imbedded into the native apps is a reminder app. Definitely the case with Apple Iphone. I’m not sure with Android phones but I’m betting they would have one. If they don’t there are many third party apps in the app store.

The actual reminder app is really a task app. Just list the task in the app and set a reminder to notify you every day or at a prescribed time.

Repeat it to notify you every day. Now you have no excuse not to do it.
