You hate your job. You know it. I know it. You’re not here reading this if you love what you do and are nailing life with actions, production, and work-life balance, doing what you love. No, you are experiencing anxiety, tightening in the stomach and all round dread when the alarm goes off. Stop procrastinating. Get off your ass and do something about it.
If you have no plan, if you have no direction, if you have no enthusiasm.
Fix it.
Stop procrastinating.
Every single day, you feel it.
Here is the real kicker.
Nothing is going to change unless you change.
You know what I’m going to say?
STOP PROCRASTINATING.
Listen to me, my friend, this is killing your confidence, your energy, and your future. Stop it.
You scroll job sites at 2 am but never apply.
You think about quitting every Monday, but stay because it’s “not the right time.”
You dream of something better, but freeze the moment action is required.
You are stuck in limbo, not because you’re lazy, but because you’re overwhelmed, afraid, and exhausted.
Trust me, I’ve been there. I’ve walked that same soul-numbing path. And I’m here to tell you—it doesn’t have to be this way.
Hello, I’m Daryl Pratt
I am a mentor, a coach and a guide.
I mentor, coach and guide people to escape the job they hate.
I have been helping folk like you since 2005.
I created MENTORaUS.com to give practical and proven tips, tricks and strategies to move you from a job you hate to doing something you love.
Within this website I share my knowledge, wisdom and experience culminating from the hundreds of hours listening and teaching folk just like you to make a change.
It will not be easy but it will be well worth your time and effort, I guarantee.
I have been where you are.
I know what it feels like to hate your job.
I know what it is like to get out, quit, change and build a life you enjoy.
Whether it is finding a job you love or finding a pathway to building a business.
It is my turn to pass it on, to pay it forward.
Life is short my friend so the sooner you control your destiny the better.
Let’s get real. You’re not staying because you love it.
You’re staying because change is scary. I get it.
The “what ifs” are louder than your ambition.
Fear is a loud liar. And procrastination is its most loyal sidekick.
But here’s what fear won’t tell you - staying in a job you hate is already the wrong decision.
Start simple.
Start right now. Stop procrastinating.
Take out a notepad (yes, an actual one—ditch the Word doc).
Draw a line down the middle.
On one side, write: “STAY”
On the other: “QUIT”
Now, list every single reason you have for both.
Go deep. Be raw. Don’t hold back.
You’ll start to see the truth in your own handwriting. And when you do, you’ll find clarity.
This isn’t magic. It’s just doing the work—the work you’ve been avoiding.
Go on, get out the notebook. .
After years of mentoring people through job transitions, I’ve seen one root cause again and again:
Fear of making the wrong move.
That fear is real, but it’s not a reason to do nothing.
Here’s what helps:
Procrastination thrives on vagueness. Your weapon is clarity.
What’s the quickest way to kill procrastination?
Fall in love with what you do.
That doesn’t mean jumping into the unknown blindly. It means reconnecting with what fires you up, your creativity, your purpose, your why.
When you’re doing something meaningful, the resistance fades. The excuses die off. You start to move forward.
Start exploring what you actually care about.
What would you do even if no one paid you?
What do you lose yourself in for hours?
When you move forward, even just a little, the fog starts to lift.
You’re not lazy.
You’re not broken.
You’re just tired of living a life that doesn’t fit you anymore.
Procrastination is just a habit, and like any habit, it can be replaced with action, intention, and courage.
Whether you decide to stay and fight for something better or leave and start building something new, the most important thing is this:
Don’t stay stuck.
Every day you wait is a day you don’t get back.
That’s how change happens. Not in a dramatic leap, but in consistent, deliberate steps forward.
You Deserve Better Than “Just Getting By”
Working a job you hate didn’t, more often than not, start off that way. It developed over time. When you started work, your natural beliefs and personal development were at some level, for better or worse. It was you.
Over time you develop. It is natural. It is the law of the universe.
So, my friend, dreading Monday through Friday to make it to the weekend is not going to cut it. Something has to change.
Unless you do something about it, this issue is not going away.
If your job is draining you, killing your confidence, and making you question your self-worth, then that job is already costing you far too much. Stop procrasinating and just get on with the fantastic life ahead of you.
You’ve got this. And if you need someone who’s been there to walk it with you, I’m here.
Experience isn't the best teacher, experience is the only teacher.
Confidence comes from experience
